Summary

The position is located in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA).



Duties

Advises on the development of U.S. policy and strategies concerning international conventional weapons laws, treaties, and agreements.

Anticipates potential policy problems, assesses impact and Congressional reaction, and ensures that policy recommendations are consistent with U.S. government and Departmental objectives.

Provides support regarding other office responsibilities (e.g. U.S. landmine policy in particular), as needed.

Develops background information, tactics, and approaches used in drafting, presenting, and defending policy documents and proposals to Departmental and federal officials.

Negotiates and integrates contributions from various Departmental offices as well as from the Department of Defense (DOD), intelligence, and other national security agencies.
