Summary
This position is located in the Bureau of International Organizations Affairs, Office of Economic and Development Affairs (IO/EDA). IO/EDA functions as the State Department's lead office for addressing economic growth, sustainable development, health, and food security issues within the United Nations System.
Duties
Develops and coordinates U.S. policy positions and provides negotiating instructions on economic and financial policy for key UN conferences such as Financing for Development, among others.
Serves as action officer for U.S on economic and financial issues in UN General Assembly Second Committee on Economic and Financial Issues, UN Economic and Social Council, UN Conference on Trade and Development and UN Regional Economic Commissions.
Negotiates and integrates policy positions from various departmental offices as well as other USG agencies in order to assemble coherent, comprehensive strategies, positions and responses.
Expands and maintains contacts at the UN and other permanent missions and builds expertise on the UN system and substantive knowledge of relevant issues.
Coordinates policy, drafts and negotiates texts, and provides instructions to the U.S. Mission at the Second Committee and the UN Regional Economic Commission meetings.
