Who We Are 

Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP) is the leading science-based policy and advocacy organization working to eliminate toxic chemicals and other environmental exposures linked to breast cancer. 1 in 8 women today will be diagnosed with breast cancer and yet 90% of cases can’t be linked solely to genetics. That’s why we aim to eliminate the other known risk factors linked to breast cancer—to save lives and prevent the disease before it starts.

This position offers the opportunity for a mission-driven person to make a difference in reducing toxic chemicals linked to breast cancer. Reporting to the Director of Development, the ideal candidate possesses excellent writing, communication, and project management skills to manage the foundation proposal and reporting process; is highly organized and attentive to details; is a proven storyteller; and can work in a fast-paced, collaborative, dynamic environment.


The Development Manager manages existing grants and grows the grants program into $3 million in annual revenue by assisting the Development Director in prospecting, cultivating and stewarding foundation relationships.

Responsibilities 

Grant Management

•       Collaborate with Program, Science, Communications and Finance staff to develop original

content and transform ideas into grant projects; draft and edit proposals,

reports, and project budgets; collect and prepare attachments.

•       Meet deadlines for applications and reports for new and renewal funding.

•       Monitor grant award notifications and coordinate acceptance procedures.

•       Work closely with Finance staff to track expenses and personnel FTE % for restricted

grants to ensure budget accuracy and that no staff exceeds max limit.

•       Manage grant proposal and reporting progress. Maintain deadlines calendar.

•       Meet regularly with relevant BCPP staff and grant partners to monitor the progress

of projects, expenditures, and remaining budget. Facilitate internal communications as needed.

•       Track and monitor various grant portals across several staff accounts.

•       Work with Development Director to develop and maintain grant department budget and

workplan.

•      Write and send grant meeting agendas and notes, proposals, reports, project budgets,

and gift acknowledgments.

•       Organize meetings with all current and prospective funders and grant partners.

•       Ensure all grant documents and funder communications are filed appropriately.

Grant Prospecting

•      Conduct foundation research and identify opportunities for new grants.

•       Work with staff and board to evaluate, prioritize, and target prospects for corporate and foundation grants.

General Development Responsibilities

•       Working with the Development Director, develop and write communications to funders and

major donors, including quarterly newsletters, events, etc.

•       Monitor and update Charity profiles and 501c3 registrations, which includes devising

and tracking programmatic metrics.

•       Work with Development Director/other Development Managers on donor events.

•       Support and participate in organization-wide events.

•      Other duties as assigned and necessary.

Qualifications and Skills 

•       Excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, and organizational skills.

•       High proficiency in programs Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Drive.

•       Demonstrated success in organizing and managing the grant-writing process and frequent

deadlines.

•       Experience managing projects with an orientation to detail and an excellent multi-tasker.

•       Team player with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.

•       Experience in non-profit fundraising or related field a plus.

•       Ability to support individual and major donor fundraising programs is a plus.

•       Experience with Microsoft 365, Asana, LastPass, and Salesforce database is a plus.


Location

Hybrid. Must reside in California and be able to commute to our San Francisco

office as required. Some weekend and evening event attendance may be required.  


Hours & Compensation

Salary: $40k - $45k (20 hours) depending on skills and experience  

Hours: Part time, flexible days/times, 20 hours per week  

Classification: Non-exempt
