Staff Attorney

Progressive Chicago area labor union is seeking a staff attorney to join its legal team in serving its dynamic membership. The Union represents workers employed in various private sector industries in and around Chicago. The staff attorney is expected to be a strategic thinker with a meticulous attention to detail who works well under pressure with a heavy work load and has the ability to meet tight deadlines. 

Job Description

Primarily responsible for: legal research and writing, arbitration hearings, proceedings at the National Labor Relations Board, contract drafting, and other assigned duties. 

Qualifications

·       Admission to the Illinois Bar required

·       A minimum of two years’ legal experience in traditional labor law

·       Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize a heavy work load

·       Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely

·       Knowledge and understanding of the labor movement required

·       Previous experience working for non-profits and/or labor Unions preferred

·       Must be a team player with ability to collaborate

·       Must be organized and self-motivated.
