Job Description
At the Service Learning Project (SLP), we believe children and teens have powerful solutions to complex social problems. We partner with schools and community organizations to create opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students to make their voices heard and become leaders in their communities.
We are currently hiring NYC-based Faculty for the 2024-25 school year; this is a part-time position with varying hours. Faculty guide students through the SLP model: a five-phase, youth-led process through which participants have a real impact on a school or community issue of their choice. SLP Faculty members facilitate 2-4 student groups per session, either working in partnership with classroom teachers or independently facilitating after-school clubs. The average weekly commitment during each of our 12-week sessions is 5-10 hours; this includes student meeting hours, preparation, and weekly supervision meetings. Please only apply if you can commit to both the fall and spring sessions.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
· College degree preferred
· Teaching or facilitation experience required
· Experience and enthusiasm about working with kids and/or teens
· Very strong interpersonal and organizational skills
· Comfort working independently, with supervision
· Strong communication skills
· Passion for service
· Commitment to youth-led learning
To Apply:
Please send your resume to info@servicelearningyc.org. Attach a brief statement telling us about yourself, your relevant experience, and why you are interested in helping youth advocate for change in their schools and communities.
SLP is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
