Summary
This position is located in the Office of Press Relations, under the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Global Media in the Bureau of Global Public Affairs (GPA/GM/PRS). GPA carries out the Secretary of State's mandate to communicate important foreign affairs issues, particularly as they relate to the health and welfare of U.S. citizens at home and abroad.
Duties
Supervises a staff of high level specialists and administrative support personnel consisting of Civil Service, Foreign Service, and contract employees.
Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through supervisors, leaders, team chiefs, group coordinators, committee chairs, or comparable personnel; exercises significant responsibilities in dealing with officials of other units or organizations.
Evaluates short and long-term plans for the Office, integrating and coordinating the program and organizational, administrative, and operational infrastructure to ensure adherence to Department operational plans, goals, and priorities.
Serves in a senior management role that encompasses all phases of the Office's programs and work.
Manages the Press Office's contracts, including GPA's transcription services, an administrative staff position, and the office's media query support platform.
Cultivates positive relationships with the media, engaging influential journalists to provide an in-depth understanding and to persuade them of the soundness of Department actions.
