Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or Associates degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field; Proven experience in communications, public relations, or media relations, preferable within a political or government setting; Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills.Spanish-bilinguals are strongly encouraged to apply.
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Develop and implement a strategic communications plan that aligns with the Assembly Member; Serve as the primary spokesperson, managing all media inquiries and coordinating interviews, press conferences and public statements; Draft, edit and distribute press releases, speeches, newsletters and other communication materials; Manage the Assembly Member's social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with constituents; Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing the Assembly member with timely updates and advice on communication strategies.Coordinate with legislative and community affairs teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and events; Organize and promote public events, town halls and press conferences; Build and maintain relationships with local and state media outlets, community leaders and other stakeholders; Handle crisis communications and develop strategies to address any negative publicity or issues that may arise; Assist in drafting policy briefs, op-eds and other content that supports the Assembly Member's legislative agenda.
