The Team You’ll Work With
In keeping with the Mayor's vision for a safe, equitable, and just City of New York, the Deputy Mayor’s
Office of Public Safety (OPS) is dedicated to creating a unified public safety ecosystem where all city
agencies tasked with safeguarding New York City are working together to preserve peace, enforce the
law, and protect the lives and property of those who live, work, and visit communities across the five
boroughs. The Office provides support, ensures accountability, and fosters collaboration between the
City’s public safety agencies.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The Deputy Mayor for Public Safety is seeking a Coordinator of Special Projects to support the work of
priority initiatives. This person will support overall project management, working closely with the
Director of Special Projects on city priorities.
Project Management & Coordination
- Support the Director of Special Projects in coordinating high-priority public safety initiatives and
maintaining alignment with the Mayor's strategic goals.
- Develop project timelines, monitor progress, and identify potential challenges to ensure
projects remain on track and within scope.
- Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including status reports, project plans,
and performance metrics.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Act as a liaison between the Deputy Mayor's Office and relevant public safety agencies,
facilitating clear and consistent communication on project objectives and updates.
- Prepare briefings, memos, and reports.
- Represent the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety in project meetings and external
events as needed.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze project data to identify trends, measure impact, and inform data-driven decisions.
- Maintain and update project tracking spreadsheets in Excel and Airtable, using advanced
functions to organize data effectively.
- Compile and interpret statistical data and other relevant information to produce summaries,
performance dashboards, and presentations for project stakeholders.
- Assist with the creation of presentation materials in PowerPoint for the Deputy Mayor’s review,
reflecting the status and outcomes of key initiatives.
About You
- You have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, Criminal Justice, Business
Administration, or Marketing.
- You have demonstrated experience in project management or marketing, particularly within
the realm of public safety or law enforcement.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel for
proposal writing and spreadsheet management. Proficiency in Airtable is advantageous.
- You have excellent note-taking and report-writing abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- You have strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple
special projects concurrently.
- You have effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with
diverse stakeholders.
- You have an analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-
driven decisions.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is $60,000 to $72,000.

factors.
