Sojourners is an ecumenical Christian media and advocacy organization that works towards social and racial justice. Sojourners publishes an award-winning magazine, produces daily news and commentary on sojo.net, and mobilizes people of faith for social justice through its advocacy initiative SojoAction.

ABOUT THE ROLE
SojoAction is looking for a mid-level digital role that specializes in content and relationship management. Digital organizing requires significant investment into content creation and relationship management. This role would combine those skills in conjunction with the Digital Organizer to lead SojoAction’s online and offline mobilizing arm to create world-class digital campaigns that connect the dots from social communities, micro-influencers, decision-makers, and the press. This role is for those seeking to make a stamp on how digital organizing evolves in our rapidly evolving times.
Responsibilities
- Foster equity and inclusion within the work environment and in every aspect of your work.
- Draft clean, persuasive, and well-messaged social media content, incorporating graphics and videos, even under tight deadlines.
- Craft email campaigns, action pages, and digital toolkits to mobilize supporters and allies in faith-based justice work.
- Collaborate with the Digital Mobilization Manager to develop and implement posting schedules and social media strategies that drive engagement.
- Monitor and curate high-impact social media content that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Identify, cultivate, and strengthen relationships with progressive faith leaders, micro-influencers, and organizational partners.
- Develop strategies to expand and deepen engagement with SojoAction’s digital and offline communities using digital advertising, organic social media, texting, influencer campaigns, and other digital tools.
- Build and maintain sophisticated distribution networks that keep the public, coalition members, and influencers informed and engaged.
- Assist the Digital Mobilization Manager with power and influence mapping and execute “influencing the influencer” campaigns.
- Support rapid-response digital work, ensuring timely and effective action during critical moments.
- Stay abreast of emerging digital tools and trends to keep campaigns innovative and impactful.
- Collaborate with the Mobilizing Team to integrate digital strategies across campaigns.
- Oversee day-to-day management of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X), including:
- Writing content, producing graphics, and creating videos.
- Scheduling posts and tracking performance metrics to refine strategies.
- Exploring innovative methods to grow audience reach and engagement.
- Explore and develop strategies to grow reach and followership of social media platforms
- Assist in managing and updating SojoAction’s website pages, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and engaging design.
- Track and analyze metrics to report progress and measure campaign impact.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support SojoAction’s mission and goals.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in digital organizing, media relations, or advocacy.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in non-profits, issue campaigns, electoral campaigns, or Congress.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to frame messages and synthesize complex issues.
- Demonstrated expertise in digital content creation, including graphics, videos, and website management.
- Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Canva, HTML, WordPress, and Excel.
- Experience using social media strategically and managing platforms like Buffer and analytics tools to measure engagement.
- Familiarity with advocacy and CRM tools (e.g., Quorum, Phone2Action, Capitol Canary, Engaging Networks).
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and a collaborative mindset.
- Commitment to Sojourners’ mission and alignment with its faith-based social justice values.
Starting annual salary for this position is $60-65,000 based on experience. Excellent benefits package includes paid health insurance, 20 days paid vacation, 12 days paid sick leave, 401(k) Plan, and a positive, faith-based work environment.
