Tesla is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join the Policy Team to support electric vehicle charging policy in North America. The individual will collaborate with others on the Policy and Commercial Charging Teams to enable more sustainable and ubiquitous electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure access. A key component of this role will be to provide analytical, research, and advocacy support for solving legislative, regulatory or jurisdictional barriers to scaling infrastructure deployment. This may include direct engagement on policies related to equipment standards, permitting, and operational requirements. The Senior Policy Analyst will also work collaboratively with business, legal, and compliance teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. This position will be located in Palo Alto, CA.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and analyze regulatory requirements and proposed requirements for charging stations to determine potential impacts on charging infrastructure deployment, operations, and technology development
- Engage with a variety of external stakeholders and develop coalitions to drive advocacy for electric vehicle charging priorities, including regulatory filings and charging legislation
- Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with policymakers, commission staff, utility partners, and trade groups
- Develop and lead proactive legislative and regulatory strategies to build new market opportunities
- Support research and analyses on emerging topics for scaling EV charging infrastructure deployment
- Represent Tesla with written and verbal comments at state agencies, in regulatory proceedings and at public hearings
- Support land-use and permitting escalations for priority charging projects
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in a relevant field such as Political Science, Public Policy, or Economics
- At least 4 years’ relevant work experience with energy markets and policy, electric utilities, charging infrastructure or public policy
- Demonstrated track record influencing the policy making process in complex regulatory markets including stakeholder engagement, drafting comments, and providing verbal testimony
- Ability to work collaboratively across issue areas and teams to distil complex technical topics in energy and transportation
- Experience managing multiple policy issue areas and engaging a variety of stakeholders to drive advocacy priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complicated and technical policy points effectively to a wide range of individuals
- A results-driven self-starter with the ability and desire to travel, as well as an ability to function autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Expected Compensation
$68,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
