CBS Media Ventures and CBS News and Stations is seeking an experienced Director of Communications to join our team working on day-to-day publicity for multiple syndicated shows and news programming.


Based in New York, the ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in television publicity and exceptional talent relations skills. Previous experience working in syndication, news or the station community is a plus. Team mentality is a must.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Devise and execute strategic consumer and trade publicity campaign for multiple shows, as well as maintain momentum throughout the season.
  • Pitch all consumer-facing media ranging from traditional print media to broadcast to online. Have superior skills in selecting compelling video clips, photos and assets to promote the show to viewers.
  • Write press releases, talking points, bios and collateral publicity materials; book and coordinate print/online press interviews, talk show appearances, photo shoots, set visits, press junkets and any other press-related function.
  • Establish close working relationships and positive rapport with talent, executive producers and key executives.
  • Work closely across departments including affiliate relations, marketing and digital.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 8-10 years in entertainment publicity at a network, studio or agency
  • Team oriented and willing to mentor
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, as well as people skills
  • Solid press contacts across all media
  • Ability to travel when necessary
  • Must be detail-oriented problem solver, who takes initiative
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • College degree, preferably in communications, journalism or a related field

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


Hiring Salary Range: $125,000 - 145,000. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
