Job Description

UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs seeks a versatile communications professional to support a variety of communications efforts, including managing information and projects; maintaining and expanding content on the web and social media channels; media outreach; and creating original content for distribution on a variety of print and digital channels. The position involves text and visual communication, as well as strategic marketing efforts.


Salary & Compensation



  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications


  • 3 Years or more Experience in a communications role. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience with social media tools used in a business environment. (Required)
  • Skill in writing and editing concise, compelling, well organized and grammatically correct communications disseminated via a printed magazine, a robust and newsy website, and social media. (Required)
  • Demonstrated skill in proofreading and fact-checking a variety of documents. Close attention to detail. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects, meeting deadline requirements amid abrupt changes in direction. (Required)
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain close working relationships with administrators, faculty, donors, volunteers and staff. (Required)
  • Skill in developing and implementing complex communications and media relations programs. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, graciously and professionally with senior administration, faculty, staff and various external contacts (including members of the media). (Required)
  • General knowledge of creating and managing electronic content such as blogs and associated photo, video and audio files. Demonstrated knowledge through hands-on use of industry-standard hardware and software programs, including Word and Excel, is required; experience in a Mac environment preferred. (Required)
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite products; graphic design and editing experience (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of recording equipment, including a video camera, digital audio recorder, and still photographic equipment. (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations


  • Bachelor's Degree Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Public Affairs or related fields are a plus. (Required)
  • Master's Degree Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Public Affairs or related fields are a plus. (Preferred)
