Summary

This position is in the FHWA Office of Public Affairs (HPA). The Communications Specialist will report to the Program Manager (Division Chief) in the HPA, Office of Public Communications. You will be responsible for administering and maintaining a public information program for the FHWA, with primary responsibility of collecting, assembling, preparing, and disseminating content for various programs of the FHWA using social media and web 2.0 strategies and applications.



Duties

As a Communication Specialist, you will:


Coordinate and moderate the development and implementation of FHWA's social media strategies and applications.

Convey and enforce the U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT), FHWA and third-party social media/web 2.0 governance policies.

Monitor all external comments and posts received through FHWA social media outlets and enforce FHWA social media policy as directed.

Develop and/or edit written documents, reports, fact sheets, video scripts, and articles for publishing externally.

Research and develop customer-focused content to promote FHWA activities to social media/web 2.0 audiences.

The ideal candidate for this position is a mid-career professional with experience collecting, assembling, preparing, and disseminating content using social media and web 2.0 strategies and applications
