POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Mid-Level Giving Manager (MLGM) will be responsible for developing, growing, and sustaining Fountain House’s mid-level donor program (individuals in the $500–$999 giving range). This includes creating a multichannel strategy focused on acquiring, soliciting, and stewarding mid-level donors as well as facilitating the cultivation of donors from the mid-level to major giving pipeline. The MLGM will also identify and solicit planned giving prospects as part of the Individual Giving team’s increased focus on growing Fountain House’s Planned Giving program.

The MLG Manager will consistently monitor the performance of the mid-level donor program, ensuring accurate and timely analysis, recordkeeping, and reporting. This includes tracking all donor interactions and ensuring that all mid-level gifts are acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner.

Fountain House development department is comprised of individual, institutional, online giving and direct mail, in addition to events and stewardship. The organization’s FY25 budget is approximately $45M.

SHIFT: Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM with some evening and weekend duties as needed.

Note: (This position requires presence in the office 2-3 days a week).

Salary: $70K- $75K (Full-time, Nonunion, exempt position) 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, sustain, manage and grow Fountain House’s Mid-Level Giving (MLG) program.
  • Create mid-level strategies for donor solicitation, donor retention, new donor acquisition, donor upgrades and monthly conversion.
  • Manage and build relationships and increase giving from a portfolio of mid-level donors.
  • Collaborating with the stewardship team, design and test cultivation and stewardship vehicles to keep donors informed and engaged, including but not limited to new donor welcome series, giving campaigns, cultivation events, and calls to advocacy. 
  • Conduct prospect research using online search engines and iWave.
  • Identify viable leads for Major Giving program.
  • Develop and present donor profiles in team meetings.
  • Ability to use Salesforce to generate financial reports and mailing lists.
  • Write letters, emails and donor acknowledgments.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of donor cultivation events in coordination with the Development team.
  • Provide support for meetings and events; prepare background information materials, assist with follow-up and next steps.
  • Respond to phone, email and online inquiries. 
  • Coordinate timely acknowledgements for all mid-level gifts received.
  • Generate queries to produce analytical reports and create fundraising reports as requested by the Senior Director, Individual Giving.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the Senior Director, Individual Giving.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience leading a Mid-Level Giving program a PLUS, with experience engaging donors and prospects in moves management, and soliciting gifts from individual donors.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects from start to finish, meeting deadlines and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Appreciation and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Fountain House, working in the mental health field and with members who live with serious mental illness.
  • Analytical and innovative problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Suite Salesforce, Adobe CS and Classy)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in non-profit fundraising.
  • Ability to write clearly, persuasively and effectively in a variety of formats.
  • Plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively to produce measurable results; keep current with and effectively apply new work methods, skills and technologies to complete work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements of the position include the following:

  • This position requires the ability to ascend and descend stairs and may include some light lifting, sitting and standing.  
  • Extensive computer use, reading, writing, analysis, attention to detail, and concentration.
  • Regular, punctual in-person attendance at Fountain House’s main headquarters and other business locations.
  • In the case of work conducted remotely, the position requires reasonable access to phone, email, and video conference and a dedicated place to work that is reasonably free from interruption and where confidentiality is secure.
