Break A Difference’s mission is to strategically engage individuals and institutions through service to make positive impacts in communities and in those who serve. As a nonprofit, we accomplish this by engaging corporations in large-scale service projects, preparing skilled leaders to serve on nonprofit boards, expanding the volunteer service capacity for nonprofits, and partnering with organizations to engage college students in week-long immersive service trips, otherwise known as Alternative Breaks. As a Baltimore-based nonprofit, we’re excited to make positive impacts in Baltimore and beyond.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager of Community Impact is responsible for leading a team that plans and implements 175+ volunteer engagements annually. This includes researching, inquiring, and developing relationships with 100+ new or existing community partners on their needs then designing an engagement to address that need by meaningfully engaging volunteers.
This position has four key accountability streams:
Program and Project Management and Evaluation:
Develop and implement high-quality volunteer programs and projects (individual instances of programs) for individuals and groups of volunteers from corporations and other organizations to make a measurable impact on community partners and their clients;
Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with partner agencies and clients to maximize community and partner impact; and
Volunteer Management:
Train & support volunteer team leaders and volunteers throughout their engagement with Break A Difference to ensure a meaningful experience.
Staff Management:
Directing and supporting the evolving Service Project Development team across the country.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and enhance the design, implementation, and evaluation of a portfolio of Break A Difference volunteer programs
- Supervise and support other members of the Service Project Development team
- Oversee all aspects of project planning and execution, including community outreach, partner and volunteer team leader engagement, budgeting and expense management, capacity planning, staffing, training, conducting site visits at potential worksites, project evaluation, and new project development
- Staff volunteer projects for corporate volunteer groups
- Recruit, support, and train volunteer project leaders
- Manage multiple project budgets
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key partner agencies and corporate sponsors
- Conduct community outreach to identify new partner agencies for specific program areas
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Special Requirements: Must be 21 with a valid driver's license; access to a personal vehicle; comfortable driving or learning to drive a cargo van and small box truck; the flexibility to work weekends
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Volunteer management certifications
Experience
- 3 years volunteer management
- 3 years program management
- 2 years staff
- 2 years event planning
Skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team;
- Excellent customer service & communication abilities
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with an ability to multitask
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills including public speaking and addressing large groups
- Excellent knowledge Google Suite and ability to learn other software
- Capable of lifting/carrying supplies and equipment weight up to 35 pounds for events

Pay: $50,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
