Job Description
The office of Congressman George Whitesides (CA-27) is hiring a Press and Digital Assistant based in his Washington, D.C. office. This position reports to the Communications Director.
Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
- Create and manage content for the Member’s social media platforms, including copy, graphics, and videos.
- Assist with drafting and circulating the Member’s newsletter, press releases, statements, talking points, and speeches.
- Compile press clips and maintain up-to-date press lists for California and D.C.
- Assist with updating the website.
- Hire and oversee a Press Intern.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Proficiency in Spanish-language communications
- Strong writing and creative skills
- Experience in graphic design and video editing
- An ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment
- Southern California ties and experience in competitive districts are preferred but not required.
- Experience in Congressional offices or political campaigns preferred but not required.
This is not an entry-level position. This position will require availability outside of traditional working hours to support an active press operation and execute the Member’s strategic communications plan.
