The Social Media Associate works as an integral part of the Brand & Marketing team on UJA’s day-to-day social media presence, including assisting in the implementation of social media strategy, monitoring posts (commenting, replying, engaging), reporting on performance, implementing influencer strategy, and staying on top of trends. They are also responsible for providing support for social media coverage at events, working with our nonprofit partners and other grantees, generating clever and smart campaigns to engage and grow our base of supporters, and collaborating closely with marketing colleagues on larger brand campaigns across social.

The Social Media Associate has experience managing numerous social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. They are detail-oriented and an impeccable writer for digital platforms. They are organized, creative, up to date on industry trends, and able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. They work closely with the team to develop and aggressively grow UJA-Federation’s social media and digital marketing presence, elevating UJA as a must-follow account within the Jewish world through unique and relevant content.  

Responsibilities:

  • Platform management: Manage multiple platforms day-to-day, including drafting posts, monitoring notifications and comments, replying to community engagement, regularly communicating with internal partners, and creating relevant post collateral; maintain editorial/content calendar daily and ensuring that daily content posted.
  • Social listening and analytics: Utilize social listening tools such as Keyhole to monitor mentions of UJA across social media platforms; collect and document organic social media metrics to analyze social media performance.
  • Influencer Strategy: Assist in development of influencer strategy and lead its implementation in conjunction with social media manager and digital media strategist; manage and cultivate an influencer database; liaise with influencers and/or their teams; execute relationship management through social media and other channels; handle administrative tasks like billing, quality assurance, and coordinating meetings.
  • Event strategy: Ensure UJA’s relevant and high-level events are covered on UJA’s social channels. This includes attending multiple events (in-person and zoom/other virtual platforms), often outside of traditional working hours, and/or coordinating with relevant internal partners to capture content to post. Additionally, the social media associate is responsible for developing ways to get the word out about events through organic channels, including social media toolkits for donors, influencers, panelists, and fundraisers.
  • UJA Storytelling: Assist the Social Media & Digital Content Manager in highlighting UJA’s work, pushing new content, collecting images, and curating selections. This includes meeting with relevant internal partners weekly to stay on top of happenings around the organization.
  • Cross-organization collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, design, PR, fundraising, planning, and executive teams to help develop and execute high-impact programs and content that integrate with multichannel marketing strategy.
  • Emergency Communications: In case of emergent news and events, work with relevant teams to create and execute emergency communications across social media, including during non-working hours

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of marketing experience with a track record of delivering results through idea generation and execution
  • Exceptional writer and communicator across mediums, with experience self-editing and ability to emulate and adapt to UJA’s established brand voice
  • Driven, positive team player with a hunger to collaborate, take and implement feedback, and adapt accordingly
  • Expertise and proven success managing a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, and TikTok
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting
  • Ability to both independently design social media visuals and work with internal creative team on imagery in adherence with established brand guidelines, as well as current look and feel
  • Proficient in Canva and familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (beginner Photoshop skills a must)
  • Self-starter with an eagerness to take initiative, work independently, and learn constantly
  • Able and eager to work in a highly collaborative environment where ideas are often co-created and co-owned
  • A passion for online marketing with a strategic, results-oriented approach
  • Unflappable, exhibits ability to move with agility and roll with chaos
  • A good sense of humor and a light-hearted attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $72,000 to $75,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
