Job Description

The Senate Committee on Finance Office of the Chairman is seeking a law clerk to assist the Committee’s trade team for the fall of 2024. Law clerks routinely assist with legislative research projects, hearings, and other substantive assignments and administrative tasks. Previous law clerks have worked on a variety of trade issues, including digital trade, customs, agriculture, intellectual property, World Trade Organization compliance, as well as labor and environmental issues related to trade.

Ideal candidates would be graduate school or law students with a demonstrated interest in trade policy. We are especially interested in candidates with experience relating to customs or digital trade. Although neither a salary nor expenses can be paid, often students are able to receive college credit for participating in the program. This position is set to start September 4 2024, though this date is subject to change.

Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply. The Office is an equal employment opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, age, uniformed service, genetic information, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Applicants should e-mail a brief cover letter and resume to senate_employment@saa.senate.gov indicating job referral number [230688] in the subject line and where the applicant found the listing in the body. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
