PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for creating and delivering companywide communications and promotions to drive business line sales and promote the benefits of AAA membership. Maintains a favorable public image for AAA Hoosier Motor Club by promoting programs, events, accomplishments, and/or points of view through management of media relations and speaking opportunities. Proactively prepares and distributes new releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Monitors state and federal legislative actions that will affect AAA Hoosier Motor Club and lobbies as necessary to support company goals.


MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages media relations, including announcements, event promotions, press releases, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities.
  • Creates and implements communication and public relations strategies that generate media visibility for AAA’s expertise on membership, insurance, travel, and automotive business lines.
  • Oversee and manage the club’s Teen Driver and AAA School Safety Patrol Programs as well as the Slow Down, Move Over Campaign. This responsibility will include all facets of each of the programs including building relationships with approved AAA Driving Schools, local schools around School Safety, and marketing and media campaigns around Slow Down Mover Over. Also identifying revenue opportunities where applicable.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local media contacts; handles media inquiries and prepares subject matter experts for media interviews. As appropriate, serves as a spokesperson to the media across all mediums.
  • Responsible for all communication activities including creating content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting members and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication and promotion strategy surrounding them.
  • Measure ad effectiveness.
  • Work with Director of Marketing to engage audiences across traditional and new media.
  • Contributes and participates in the Hoosier Motor Club publication including writing monthly President’s message, Member Spotlight and Member Business Alliance feature.
  • Create, review, approve and revise copy.
  • Maintains regular contact with AAA National PR staff and assesses materials received for value as local publicity and when appropriate rewrites for release to local media.
  • Provides training and media information to new and existing managers.
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate public relations results on a quarterly basis.
  • Performs any and all duties assigned by leadership.


Education and/or Experience Requirements
:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or business; or a related field with a minimum of 5+ years of experience; or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of position.


Strong relationships with local business and industry media outlets.

Event planning experience. (promotions minded)

Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews.

Experience in creating and managing company promotions.

Experience writing communication plans, news releases, talking points, and media pitches.

Corporate communications experience preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
