The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in 2022, the Orchestra is acting on a renewed commitment to building on a legacy of more than 180 years, serving as a platform for today’s greatest musical artists and connecting with our communities. Gustavo Dudamel will become the Philharmonic’s Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director in the 2026–27 season.

The New York Philharmonic seeks a Development Associate. The Development Associate assists the Patron Program (individual donors giving $3,000–$14,999) and the Young New Yorkers Program (donors aged 21–45) and is responsible for supporting the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and event fulfillment of Patron and Young New Yorkers members. This role is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, coordinate, and track Patron Program and Young New Yorkers Program communications including solicitation letters and emails, acknowledgement letters and membership cards, newsletters, stewardship emails, and other correspondence.
  • Process gifts and utilize Tessitura database to pull lists, extractions, and reports.
  • Support membership events including correspondence and attendance tracking, reporting, budget tracking, and on-site support at events as necessary.
  • Assist with moves management in Tessitura by maintaining donor and prospect plans.
  • Manage logistics of the Ackman Family Patron Lounge and J.P. Morgan Music Box, including maintenance and inventory; invoice submission and tracking; maintain and update check-in lists; and communication with Patron Lounge hospitality team.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director, Individual Giving and Development Operations team, assist with expense budget and revenue tracking and support data analysis projects to track and analyze giving trends.
  • Respond to donor inquiries by phone and email to serve the Patron Desk, concierge ticket service and benefit fulfillment for Patrons, Young New Yorkers, Leonard Bernstein Circle, Board, and other major donors.
  • Support frontline fundraising through inbound calls, assisting donors with membership renewals, upgrades, and acquisitions.
  • Intermittently staff the Patron Lounge at performances and assist with membership and special events.
  • Commitment to contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum of one year of relevant experience; strong computer and data skills (Tessitura experience is highly valued); strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills, including the ability to successfully work in a collaborative, team‐oriented environment where needs shift based on the Season calendar. Ability to produce under deadlines and work independently and effectively. Previous experience at an arts organization and/or enthusiasm for classical and symphonic music is a plus.
