Job Summary:
The Florida Chamber of Commerce is seeking an exceptional, experienced Policy Director to develop, promote, execute, and coordinate components of the Florida Chamber's legislative agenda. This individual will serve as the primary Governmental Affairs point of contact and lead lobbyist in assigned policy areas.
The candidate will work closely with legislators, cabinet members, Chamber business members and partners, and local chambers of commerce. Interaction with these groups is performed on a regular basis and designed to assist and grow the Florida Chamber's political and legislative advocacy efforts. In addition, the ideal candidate will lead issue-based coalitions in policy areas of responsibility, contribute written policy content such as articles, research and policy materials, and provide public testimony.
This individual should be a highly driven, persuasive communicator that understands the policy and political landscape in Florida, excels at member engagement and service, and unequivocally believes in and champions free enterprise. In addition to being trustworthy, integrity-filled, and results oriented, the ideal candidate will possess:
· 5+ years knowledge of and/or experience in the state legislative and regulatory process
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
· Proficiency in relevant computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a large internal and external team on multiple tasks at once
· Willingness and ability to travel
· Law or advanced degree in government, politics, or policy a plus
