About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Managing Director, CGI Partnerships, the Clinton Foundation seeks an experienced and creative development professional with a proven track record working in a fast-paced environment in corporate, non-profit, and/or political fundraising. This individual will be a key member of the Development team's operations and will lead the development, drafting, process for sign off and submission of institutional grant requests on behalf Foundation's Comprehensive Fundraising Campaign and other Foundation initiatives including CGI.

The Development team works to secure the philanthropic resources necessary to advance the Foundation's mission through its programs and operations. The team works closely with volunteers and colleagues from across the organization to present the Foundation's case for support through gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Team members collaborate to maximize engagement and giving from individual donors and institutional funders alike.

Core Responsibilities

Proposal Writing and Submission

  • Authors, co-authors, and/or edits letters of inquiry and grant proposals, including narrative, scope of work, metrics/results framework, budgets, and compiling supporting documentation with great attention to detail, and working closely with relevant staff to ensure accuracy of information. This includes aligning proposals and budgets with funder interests, capacity, and requirements.
  • Leads proposal submission, as needed, in collaboration with program and finance teams, including managing funder grant portals and data entry, creating timelines, and reviewing content for accuracy.
  • Works with finance and program teams to develop budgets for proposal submission.
  • Coordinates internal review process, for large or significant proposals, including review and sign-off by program leadership, finance, legal, and senior leadership team, as needed; secures necessary signatures.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and comprehensive records in CRM database, including key contacts, decision-makers/influencers, interactions, next steps, and tracking of proposal and stewardship activity.

Operations, Reporting and Strategic Support

  • Manages grant reporting process and fulfillment of requirements for open grants to meet required deadlines. Authors, co-authors, and/or edits report content and expenditure reports in collaboration with program and finance.
  • Tracks reporting deadlines and task assignments for open grants in CRM database.
  • Provides internal support to liaise with program colleagues to generate narrative and financial reports to fulfill reporting requirements.
  • Manages review process and necessary approvals of reports by relevant program, finance/accounting, and Development staff.
  • Reviews grant agreements; identifies need for subgrant/subcontract; reviews subgrants, subcontracts, and scopes of work for alignment with proposal and funder requirements. Coordinates grant/MOU award review process
  • Works with finance and development services to track grant payments, document payment schedules, and manage timely invoicing.
  • Post-award: In collaboration with finance/programs, monitors expenditures against funder-approved project budgets. Reviews/monitors project activities, deliverables, progress against goals/objectives in accordance with agreement.
  • Develops/assists with revisions to project scope as needed, including guiding/developing budget modifications, staff allocations, etc.
  • Responsible for fulfillment of donor recognition in accordance with agreements and with proper approvals by relevant staff, as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with the Managing Director informs strategic direction of programs, recommends program activities based on research into sector, recommends goals, outcomes, staffing, budget, and ask amounts based on funder capacity and interests and Foundation priorities. Translates into compelling opportunities for institutional funders.

Minimum Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelors' Degree in related field required
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility, with at least 2-3 years managing a grant writing and development function.
  • Good working knowledge of the mechanics of fundraising at the individual, corporate, and institutional levels.
  • Proficient with CRM systems, MSOffice, and Internet required.
  • Portfolio management experience and working within complex organizations beneficial.
  • Knowledge of relevant analytical tools and grant databases beneficial

Compensation & Benefits

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $92 - 102K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This role is not eligible for overtime pay. This range is based on NYC market rates and may be adjusted if you will be working remotely.
