We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Organizer to help lead the charge in building worker power building a campaign against Trump’s attacks on federal employees. at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in the Chicago area. If you’re a strategic thinker, a fearless leader, and an advocate for workers' rights, this is the opportunity for you!

Location: Chicago, IL

Assignment: Veteran Affairs Medical Center – Assignments are subject to change

Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspire & Mobilize – Challenge workers to take action, lead campaigns, and build strong, motivated teams.

Develop Leaders – Train and mentor worker-leaders, equipping them with the tools to organize and fight for their rights.

Drive Change – Lead high-impact campaigns, escalate actions, and build collective power to win real victories.

Grow Our Movement – Expand membership, engage in political and electoral organizing, and build strategic alliances.

Make a Difference – Represent our union’s mission and priorities in the broader community and advocate for policies that improve workers' lives.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about workers’ rights, social justice, and building power for low-wage workers.
  • Experience in a union environment handling grievances and impact and contract negotiations.
  • At least 1 year of experience directing teams in organizing campaigns.
  • Skilled in campaign planning, leadership development, and mobilization.
  • Able to inspire, train, and lead diverse teams of workers and staff.
  • Comfortable with organizing databases, excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and willing to work flexible hours.
  • Valid driver’s license, working vehicle, and willingness to travel when needed.

Preferred Experience

  • 3-5 years of union organizing or bargaining experience
  • Federal or public sector organizing experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English and another language of the membership) is a plus.
