Senior Project Manager

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (Committee) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to educating policymakers, the media and citizens about the fiscal challenges facing the country, as well as the possible solutions. The Committee is made up of some of the nation's leading budget experts including many of the past Chairmen and Directors of the Budget Committees, the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Government Accountability Office.

The Committee is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join our team. This position will be responsible for overseeing and executing a range of strategic and administrative projects. This includes working across the organization to ensure that projects are completed to the highest standard in accordance with their timeline and objectives. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager for various policy projects assigned by management, overseeing management of day-to-day project activities, including implementing project plans, maintaining timelines and overseeing deliverables
• Work vertically and horizontally across the organization to help ensure coordination and alignment on goals and objectives, while identifying opportunities, challenges and barriers to success
• Exercise judgement to prioritize opportunities, prepare background materials and presentations and other project supporting material
• Manage internal tracking systems to ensure projects are executed according to the guidelines set
• Perform research to support projects and initiatives as assigned by management 
• Support other organizational projects of the Committee as needed and assigned

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

• A passion for and understanding of federal budget issues, particularly the threat posed by our nation’s long term fiscal challenges
• Excellent project management skills and experience, with demonstrated success
• Proven experience managing projects with cross-functional teams
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong writing and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Previous research and project management experience preferred
• 5+ years of professional experience a plus
• Bachelor’s degree required

Salary: $80,000 to $110,000 with generous benefits package including health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; 403(b) contribution; and paid time off.
