The office of Council Member Pierina Sanchez, representing Bronx District 14, is looking for candidates who are passionate about uplifting the Bronx and ensuring a local government that delivers for the people to join its small and mighty team. Scheduler 

The Scheduler and Office Manager will be responsible for aligning Council Member Pierina Sanchez’s legislative, budgetary and district priorities with how her calendar is structured along with and working with the Legislative team and District Team to ensure materials are prepared for the Council Member. 

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an administrative professional with a passion for social justice to engage in work that leverages policy to deliver real life impacts. The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, with a small and mighty team, where no task is too minor and no detail too small. Strong organizational skills are a must, as is a certain political savvy. 

 

The Job 

  • Manage meeting requests and schedule of Council Member 
  • Prioritize incoming requests strategically   
  • Work with Chief of Staff and other staffers to ensure Council Member’s schedule reflects priorities of the office and needs of the community  
  • Manage booking, transport and accommodation as needed 
  • Compile briefing materials as relevant ahead of meetings 
  • Understand key stakeholders and relationships 
  • Serve as a driver as needed 
  • Execute processes to ensure efficient office operations 
  • Order supplies  
  • Potential to combine portfolios, like communications or community liaisons 
  • Serve as support staff across office 

 

Qualifications 

  • Superior organizational skills: Ability to order tasks based on legislative, budgetary and district priorities 
  • Attention to detail: Ensuring that all appointments and deadlines are accurate and accounted for. 
  • Communication: Skilled in eliciting information from others 
  • Able to clearly and concisely communicate with team members, community organizations, and stakeholders. 
  • Prioritization: Efficiently allocating time to the most pressing tasks and meetings while stay on top of items that may have been de-prioritized 
  • Problem-solving skills: Quickly addressing scheduling conflicts and finding solutions. 
  • Technical proficiency: Proficient with excel 
  • Flexibility: Adapting to changing priorities and unexpected issues. 
  • Interpersonal skills: Building relationships and understanding the needs and unique communication styles of different people 
  • Excellent judgment and exquisite political sensitivity 

 

Preferences 

  • Relationship to District 14 and/or the Bronx. 
  • Experience: Previous experience in a scheduling or administrative role can be highly beneficial. 
  • Valid driving license 
  • Fluent in Spanish 

 

Salary and Benefits 

  • $58,000 - $65,000, salary commensurate with experience

Work: In-person work is required given the high needs of our digitally divided community. While the position will largely be based primarily in Downtown Manhattan, frequent travel to the Bronx will be required. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
