The Math Learning Center (MLC) is a non-profit education organization with a track record of developing high-quality mathematics materials, including Bridges in Mathematics. We create materials that engage students, promote classroom community and discourse, and help more than 80,000 elementary teachers across the country deliver effective mathematics instruction.

Are you interested in contributing your procurement and purchasing expertise in a mission-driven organization? If so, this position might be right for you. In this role, you will negotiate with suppliers, maintain vendor relationships, and develop and maintain procurement processes.

This is a full-time onsite position working from our office in Salem, Oregon.

What you will do:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best deals for the organization.
  • Review and amend contracts to ensure compliance with organization policies and legal requirements.
  • Lead the end-to-end procurement process, from requisition to purchase order issuance and delivery.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain all information systems that support and optimize the procurement function.
  • Implement strategies to reduce procurement expenses while maintaining quality standards.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counting at third-party logistics sites.
  • Provide domestic freight logistics for product transfers and inbound/outbound shipments.
  • Ensure inventory data integrity between ERP system and physical inventories, inclusive of internal and external warehouses.
  • Create build priorities and production schedule to meet current and forecasted inventory requirements.
  • Conduct quality testing on new inbound products.

How you are qualified:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Certification in supply chain and/or procurement preferred.
  • A valid insurable Driver’s License is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, database systems, and ERP programs.
  • Ability to identify, engage, and manage relationships with stakeholders such as customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Ability to adjust to new situations, environments, and changing priorities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with others towards a common goal.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
