Salary Range: $52,000-$56,000

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Culture and Finance Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential for providing HR support and assisting with our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage various tasks with precision and efficiency. This position reports directly to the Director of People and Culture and will work closely with the Finance Director on all finance-related tasks. This role is ideal for someone early in their HR or finance career or for someone looking to transition to a less intense administrative/finance role to enjoy a more significant work/life balance. 


Responsibilities


Human Resources (HR) Support (75% of role)

  • Provide administrative support for all aspects of the employment lifecycle, including the hiring process of all full/part-time staff and interns. The Coordinator will post position descriptions, schedule interviews, build interview scripts, create offer letters, build orientation programs, schedule check-ins, and conduct exit interviews when someone departs.
  • Assist with our DEI committee, including creating monthly meeting agendas, providing DEI goal updates, managing the annual DEI survey, and participating in our semi-monthly DEI discussion group.
  • Act as the administrative lead throughout the performance review cycle, overseeing our trimester reflection process and the annual review/compensation adjustment period in May and June. 
  • Encourage/remind staff to complete the following: the monthly allocation sheet, weekly staff recaps, any lobbying time, and submitting their monthly out-of-pocket reimbursements. 
  • Measure culture and morale through quarterly staff engagement surveys via the Culture Amp platform.
  • Lead the fun committee and plan team-building events throughout the year.
  • Work closely with PCD during the annual open enrollment period and act as liaison between insurance broker and staff. 
  • Maintain all position descriptions (PDs) and work with supervisors and their direct reports to update PDs as necessary. 
  • Conduct research and assist with various HR-related policies and projects. 
  • Support the People and Culture Director in other tasks as assigned but that are closely related to the above responsibilities. 


Finance Support (25% of role)

  • Oversee and maintain credit card expense reports and properly save all receipts.
  • Complete bill pay entry into QuickBooks and act as a backup for TD Bank.
  • Conduct staff and insurance allocation entries into QuickBooks.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and enter out-of-pocket (OOP) reimbursements and insurance bills into QuickBooks.


Job-Related Experience 

  • Two years of applicable HR or finance-related experience, including internships. 
  • Demonstrated experience with nonprofit finance and HR systems, specifically Quickbooks, ADP, and/or BambooHR is a plus. 
  • Commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable workplace and political system.


Job-Related Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities 

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing concisely and professionally for internal audiences.
  • High computer proficiency with Google, Excel, and Mac iOS skills preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and follow through on assignments under deadlines with appropriate direct supervision; and 
  • The ability to work effectively with all Issue One stakeholders, including staff, consultants, colleagues, volunteers, media, elected officials, and the general public.


Work Coordination And Supervision

The Associate will report to the Director of People and Culture and meet with him weekly. Furthermore, the employee will actively participate in ops team meetings and meet regularly with the Finance Director.


Decision Making

The Associate will complete all assigned tasks and flag anything important for the Finance Director and People and Culture Director. The Associate must obtain approval from their supervisor before making significant purchases, publishing significant internal communications, or changing previously approved processes or procedures. 


Structure and Location

This full-time, salaried, fully benefited position requires 40 hours per week. While it’s preferred for this role to be based in the Washington, D.C. area, it could become remote if the selected candidate is highly qualified. If based in DC, all staff are required to come to the office twice a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Tentative Recruitment Timeline

  • June 26-July 14: The position is posted, and resumes are collected 
  • July 15-19: Resumes are screened and top candidates are identified for interviews.
  • July 22-26: first-round panel interviews take place.
  • July 29-Aug 6: Finalists identified and paid assessment conducted (if needed). 
  • Aug. 7-13: Second-round panel interviews with finalists take place.
  • Aug. 19: Preferred candidate named and the role offered (contingent on a background check and verification of all educational credentials). 
  • September 16-New candidate begins (flexible start date)
