Senator-elect Andy Kim seeks a National Security Advisor to provide strategic guidance in issues related to foreign policy and national security. This is not an entry-level position and previous experience in foreign policy and national security in the executive branch or United States Senate is required.

The ideal applicant will think strategically, have solid professional relationships across the foreign policy and national security landscape, excellent organization and communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to public service. This senior staff position will work closely with the Legislative Director, Chief of Staff, and the Senator-elect to chart a path that will prioritize public service in our foreign service and U.S. global competitiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advises the Senator on foreign policy and national security issues around the globe, with specific attention to the U.S. - China/Indopacific, US global competitiveness, next generation technology and innovation, and US security posture. 
  • Works with the Senator and senior staff to identify strategic priorities, build and execute plans for achieving key objectives; 
  • Represents the Senator in meetings with high-level government officials, both foreign and domestic.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the Senator.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 8-12 years of relevant work experience
