Job Description
The Consulate-General of Japan in Denver seeks a qualified candidate to join its local staff. Duties
- Political/Economic Section:
· Research and reporting on political and economic trends in our jurisdiction(CO,UT,NM,WY)
· Collect and/or evaluate public information
· Correspond with officials across our jurisdiction
· Hold other duties as assigned or needed
OR
- PR/Cultural Section:
· Handle the distribution of PR materials
· Assist with cultural outreach and events
· Update the Consulate-General's website on a frequent basis
· Manage the loaning of Japanese cultural items to interested parties
· Assist in the administration of several scholarship and exchange programs offered by the Japanese government to U.S. citizens
· Hold other duties as assigned or needed
Working Conditions and Treatment
· Working hours: 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays (1 hour lunch break)
o Overtime may be required on rare occasion
· Holidays: Weekends and national holidays

o Note: There may be cases of working on weekends and holidays.
· Salary: Determined based on the applicant's past work experience, etc.
Qualifications
· Graduate of an accredited four year university or college
· US citizen
· High-level English skills to compose written correspondence, speeches, etc.
· Experience with basic PC skills such as Word and Excel
· Japanese language skill preferred but not required
· Available to start in September, 2024
Selection Process
After the initial document screening, selected candidates will be contacted for a written examination and interview. Upon hiring, there will be an introductory trial employment period of 90 days.
