Title: Manager, CEE Pennsylvania – Part Time
Reports to: Senior Director, Programs
Based in: Pennsylvania, Philadelphia or Philadelphia Metro
ABOUT CEE
The Council for Economic Education’s (CEE’s) mission is to equip K–12 students with the tools and knowledge of economics and personal finance so that they can make better decisions for themselves, their families and their communities. We carry out our mission in three ways. We ensure equitable access by advocating for financial and economic education requirements in every state. We provide training, tools and resources – online and live through over 180 affiliates nationwide - to more than 40,000 teachers annually who in turn bring the highest quality economics and personal finance instruction to over 4 million students. We deepen knowledge and introduce high school students to critical career capabilities through our national competitions (personal finance and economics challenges) and Invest in Girls.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager, CEE Pennsylvania is an experienced educational professional with a finger on the pulse of the state of Pennsylvania education. The Manager will operate as CEE’s on-the-ground presence, build and grow CEE’s programming efforts within the state, and strategically cultivate relationships within the local education community. They will identify and implement strategies for supporting K–12 teachers to help them become more competent and confident teachers of economics and personal finance, as well as carry-out direct-to-student programming, specifically Invest in Girls (IIG), the National Economics Challenge (NEC) and the National Personal Finance Challenge (NPFC).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as primary point of contact and convener with key organizations and individuals within Pennsylvania education communities (i.e., district leaders, other non-profits, etc.) to advance the teaching of economics and financial literacy
- Coordinate and lead professional development
- Conduct outreach and cultivates a cadre of qualified K–12 educators to expand professional development capacity and extend reach into every district to implement financial and education and related CEE programs that support their needs
- Grow programs for high school students
- Work closely with CEE staff to develop and execute a three-year growth plan that is aligned to CEE’s organizational objectives
- Some regional travel in Pennsylvania required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 6 – 8 years’ experience in Pennsylvania K–12 education space with an understanding of the education system in the region and teacher needs
- Experience presenting for teachers, mentoring peers, and coordinating and facilitating training
- Interest and familiarity with financial and economic education
- Strong oral and written communication, organization and presentation skills
- A dynamic individual with a willingness and ability to conduct face-to-face outreach within the community
- Ability to implement programs independently while also having a collaborative approach — both leading and working as part of a team
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a part-time position, with expected working hours of 10 – 15 hours per week. The hourly rate is based on and commensurate with background and experience. No benefits are provided as this is a part-time position.
