Job Description
A Democratic organization is seeking a communications/earned media firm or individual to lead a strategic media outreach campaign for the organization's ad launch. The selected partner will be compensated $15,000-$20,000 for a 6 to 8-week project, with the potential for extension based on earned media performance during the initial campaign period. The group is known for its popular attack ads and aims to create a strong push around its new ads.
Scope of Work:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive earned media program.
- Proactively pitch the organization and its Director to national reporters, TV bookers, podcasts, and other media outlets.
- Draft eyecatching and hard-hitting press releases and manage rapid response communications and day-to-day press operations.
- Increase the organization's brand awareness among press, stakeholders, and voters.
- Conduct research to stay ahead of media trends and identify new opportunities to expand and diversify earned media impact.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to amplify the group's communications strategy.

- Provide additional communications support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Communications firm or 3+ election cycles of experience in a statewide or national campaign or major organization, serving as a Communications Director, Regional Communications Director, or Press Secretary.
- Strong existing relationships with prominent national reporters, TV bookers, and podcast hosts.
- Experience in booking guests on nontraditional outlets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
- Willingness to innovate, challenge norms, and embrace creative problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
- A sense of humor, humility, and a strong work ethic.
Location: Remote
State date: April 2025 (with the potential for extension to a monthly retainer or full-time employment, contingent on earned media results).
Reports To: Director
Compensation: $15,000-20,000 for April/May, dependent on experience and scope.
