The American Conservation Coalition Action is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated individual to help spearhead its government affairs work.


Reporting directly to ACC Action’s Managing Director, the Director of Government Affairs will be responsible for leading ACC Action’s relationships on Capitol Hill and advancing our policy & political goals to pass conservative environmental, climate, and energy policy. In this role, you will be a vital part of the fastest-growing conservative environmental nonprofit in America. 


This is a full-time, exempt position based in the Washington, D.C. metro area.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead Government Affairs work: Alongside ACC Action’s Managing Director, you will be responsible for ACC Action’s government affairs work in Washington, D.C., building and maintaining relationships with key Members of Congress and their staff. This position’s primary objective is to help ACC Action advocate for common-sense, conservative policies that can protect our environment and grow our economy. Ultimately, passing legislation in the 119th Congress and beyond is the key emphasis of this role. 


  • Grow and maintain D.C. relationships: You will work to grow and maintain ACC Action’s partnerships and relationships in DC, primarily with industry, non-profits, and other advocacy organizations. 


  • Help manage a growing team and make strategic decisions about ACC Action’s future: You will work directly with ACC Action’s executive team to set the overall direction of the organization’s government affairs work. You will help lead a small team of policy and government affairs staff while contributing to our organization’s overall team culture. 


  • Leverage grassroots presence for policy impact: A core part of ACC Action’s mission is growing a grassroots movement of conservative environmentalists, who can apply positive pressure on Congress to pass common-sense, pro-America environmental policy. You will work with ACC’s VP of Grassroots Strategy to identify opportunities to connect ACC members with target Members of Congress through ACC chapter events, legislative calls to action, and other interactions. Ultimately, you will work with the Field Team to leverage our grassroots energy to strengthen and advance key policy goals in D.C.


  • Represent ACC in spoken and written media: You will work with the Vice President of Communications to represent ACC in the media when relevant opportunities arise, specifically regarding policy and political priorities that ACC is engaged in. From op-eds to broadcast interviews, ACC frequently appears in media to provide a conservative, pro-climate perspective. 


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $115,000-$140,000 dependent on experience

Requirements:

  • Based in the Washington, D.C. metro area
  • Strong relationships with Members of Congress and their staff
  • Values-driven mentality and strong moral compass
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental policy issues
  • 5+ years of leadership and management experience
  • 5+ years of Capitol Hill experience preferred

Salary

$115,000 - $140,000 per year
