As the Consultant, Public Affairs you will lead the enterprise business development growth and retention strategies for our commercial and government business interests coordinating across the enterprise for a comprehensive public affairs strategy

Job Duties:

  • Leads a team to direct public affairs strategies focused on business development to support government and commercial business, including growth and retention opportunities, procurement opportunities, and various initiatives.

  • Supports commercial and government segment strategies through identification and monitoring of changing patterns of the regulatory and legislative environment, by identifying public policy priorities, refining initiative scope, tracking value delivery, and shaping policy/advocacy tactics and messaging.

  • Responsible for assimilating information in collaboration with the Health Policy Office and Government Affairs offices, DBG, and the commercial and government segments, ensuring alignment and integration with public affairs and divisional and initiative plans and business goals.

  • Responsible for stakeholder management and coordination across the enterprise regarding strategic investments and external engagement.

  • Represents Blue Cross NC externally, serving as an expert resource and contact for the Company with state officials and external stakeholders, including advocacy and trade organizations, professional societies, medical associations, and other external constituencies.

  • Researches and analyzes major competitor and industry to provide insight to help lead the company’s short and long-term business strategy.

  • Implements effective management, monitoring and oversight approaches that drive execution, focus and results for all assigned initiatives and recommend and implement changes as needed to ensure enterprise business objectives are achieved.

  • Serves as a mentor and coach across the enterprise that directly contribute to staff growth and the success of the company as it pertains to navigating the external environment.

  • Works in partnership with other key internal stakeholders, develops both short- and long-term performance targets, forecasts and projections with appropriate performance monitoring and management.

  • Maintains compliance as appropriate and successfully leverages capabilities and insights of policymakers, industry associations and other peer plans and stakeholders.

  • Budget responsibilities to control expenditures in accordance with budget allocations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA or advanced degree where required.

  • 10+ Years of related experience.

Salary Range

$131,900.00 - $250,600.00
