Salary Range: $190,000.00 To 230,000.00 Annually


At National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), we're on a mission to shape the future of the automotive industry. As Senior Director and Counsel, Regulatory Affairs (Privacy), you'll play a vital role leading advocacy and education functions related to privacy, credit, telecommunications, and related regulatory issues.


This is a full-time on-site position with a healthy work culture, competitive salary, and excellent benefits. Duties require some travel, comprising up to 20% of the role.


The Senior Director and Counsel, Regulatory Affairs (Privacy) is ideal for someone with subject matter expertise in data privacy issues who wants to work in an intellectual and dynamic environment and help our nation’s franchise auto dealers thrive.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, organize, and execute regulatory affairs functions related to digital privacy, credit, telecommunications, advertising, and more.
  2. Engage with key policy entities and coalitions, drafting policy positions and advocating on behalf of our members.
  3. Review and advise on agreements between dealerships and OEMs, providing expert assistance to dealer associations and NADA staff.
  4. Serve as a liaison to outside data organizations, helping to coordinate regulatory actions and advocacy efforts.
  5. Prepare educational materials to assist dealerships with federal regulatory responsibilities, disseminating information through various channels.
  6. Respond to regulatory inquiries and update NADA's Regulatory Affairs web page and other content.
  7. Track, research, and analyze legal developments related to digital privacy, credit, telecommunications, and advertising.
  8. Prepare and perform presentations for senior management, the Board of Directors, and outside organizations on regulatory law.


Who We're Looking For:

  • You hold Bachelor and JD degrees and are a member in good standing of the bar of at least one U.S. state or the District of Columbia.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years attorney experience, with demonstrated progressive responsibility.
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and political processes.
  • You have a demonstrated knowledge of digital privacy, the Graham-Leach-Bliley Act, and other federal laws and regulations governing digital privacy and cybersecurity
  • You think strategically, exercise excellent judgment, and excel in written and oral communication.
  • You're a natural leader who motivates and develops employees, works well in a team environment, and fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Experience with a law firm or government agency is preferred.
