About the Role

We are seeking

qualified candidates for the position of Cultural Education Program

Manager I. The Program Manager will develop, implement, and manage a

multimillion-dollar cultural education grant program and be responsible

for stewarding relationships among cultural organizations, public school

educators, and district staff within King County’s 19 school districts

and tribal schools.  

You will be most successful in this position if:

  • You
  • have experience working directly with either public school districts,
  • educators and cultural partners that provide programs to K-12 students.
  • Examples could include teachers, paraeducators, teaching artists, school
  • district partnership or program managers, education staff from arts,
  • heritage, or science and technology cultural organizations.
  • You
  • have experience in grant making and philanthropy, particularly as it
  • relates to improving or expanding access to any of the following
  • disciplines: arts, heritage, or science and technology experiences for
  • K-12 students and families from historically marginalized and
  • underinvested in communities.

  • Process improvement and development of best practices as it relates to managing funding programs.
  • Working directly with colleagues from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Communicating policies and guidelines with members of the public from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Skilled in:

  • Effective and responsive client-facing and internal communication via phone, email, and in-person
  • Managing
  • projects simultaneously and independently, often in a deadline-oriented
  • environment requiring creative and flexible solutions.
  • Adapting quickly to new software platforms, CRMs, and other digital tools and resources.

Have the ability to:

  • Work independently and collaboratively in an open office environment (this position is hybrid).
  • Be flexible and navigate ambiguity while remaining responsive to the needs of applicants and program participants.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may occasionally oversee interns and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage
  • the cultural education funding program and cultural education roster
  • including keeping the roster up to date in collaboration with the
  • Communications Department.
  • Develop applications, guidelines, and
  • applicant workshops; provide technical assistance during application
  • and contract processes; and execute panel deliberation process.
  • Respond
  • to requests for information from the public and serve as primary staff
  • contact for the public-school educators, district staff, and grant
  • applicants.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate the education funding
  • program and roster to ensure both meet internal goals and are
  • effectively implemented.
  • Manage grant contracts and approve payment requests.
  • Work
  • with Arts Program Director to support and strengthen the cultural
  • education field through outreach and engagement with public schools and
  • educators to increase access to the Cultural Education program; creating
  • and participating in presentations for meetings and events; and
  • representing 4Culture at applicable local, state, regional, and national
  • events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with the
  • department directors and other staff to develop and provide feedback on
  • the department work plans, program budget, and evaluation particularly
  • as it relates to cultural education offerings and priorities within each
  • discipline.
  • Contribute to the overall health and welfare of
  • 4Culture by utilizing the Strategic Plan; participating in internal
  • working groups; documenting standard operating procedures and
  • implementing process improvements.
  • In accordance with King
  • County records management law, regulations and best practice regularly
  • utilize the County records management software Content Manager.
  • Coordinate and or delegate work with Support Specialists.

Minimum Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate they have the skills

listed above through a combination of their work, education, and life

experience as demonstrated in their resume, and cover letter.

  • Experience
  • working directly with public school districts, educators, and cultural
  • partners providing programs to K-12 students in at least one of
  • 4Culture’s focus areas.
  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, heritage, and/or science and technology (STEM) education fields, including museum studies or an Associate’s degree in a related field and 2 years of related work/life experience or 4 years of related work/life experience.
  • Proficiency
  • with computer systems including customer relationship management
  • software (CRM) and MS Office 365 including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint,
  • Excel, and SharePoint.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Moderate to advanced fluency (written and spoken) in Spanish

Work Environment

  • Position works a 37.5 hour work week, Monday–Friday. 
  • This
  • position will primarily be onsite 4Culture at 101 Prefontaine Pl S,
  • Seattle, WA. Seattle. This position is hybrid (3 days in the office/2
  • days remote). 
  • Occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours are required.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position Grade 15, $63,501–$95,251 annually.

Starting range is anticipated to be $63,501–$79,376. Salary will be

negotiated and based on the selected candidate and their experience and

includes a competitive package of benefits. It is classified as Regular

Full Time, exempt.
