The Prospect Heights Public Library District seeks an intelligent, creative, and self-motivated person to be our next Head of Communications. This position is responsible for administering the Communications Department while developing and implementing a communications strategy that supports the Library’s new strategic plan.

This role leads a department with two outstanding graphic artists and creates communication plans for specific Library initiatives throughout the year. The role will also collaborate with other Library departments on the promotion of programs, community events, and external communications. This position will work to analyze data and review the effectiveness of the Library’s communication strategy to continually improve its effectiveness. The Communications Department is also responsible for the design and monthly production of the Library’s monthly Elm Leaf magazine as well as oversight of all website and social media content. Additionally, the role coordinates with other departments in the design and procurement of Library swag and giveaways. This position will work closely with the Executive Director in crafting the department’s budget, and serve on the Management Team, working collaboratively with other department heads to implement long-term initiatives.

Job Requirements: The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience in marketing, public relations, journalism or communications and 2 years of supervisory experience. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud products. Familiarity with CMS (Content Management Systems). A strong foundation for Marketing and Digital Analytics.

Advanced communications and proofreading skills. Bi/Multi-lingual proficiency is preferred.
