Summary:
GEICO is looking for a communications professional to support our Corporate Communications organization. In this high-impact and visible role, you will work with our Vice President of Communications to drive our internal communications function to effectively communicate with our more than 35,000 associates across the country. As Senior Director of Enterprise Communications, you will manage the internal communications function and oversee internal communications strategy with associates. Working directly with company leadership, you will also be responsible for managing executive communications.
You will report directly to the Vice President of Communications and serve as a strong deputy, provide strategic counsel while developing and executing a robust internal communication strategy, and will work with outside agencies responsible for management and direction. Collaboration, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and experience working in large companies to communicate effectively with employees will be essential for your success.
Key Responsibilities:

Direct all internal communications for GEICO and lead a team that is accountable for results that enable individual business units and corporate functions to drive understanding and ambassadorship for GEICO’s company strategy

Create targeted messaging and campaigns to address key company initiatives, culture building, change management and engage associates at all levels

Reimagine internal communications programs and systems to more effectively communicate with associates

Collaborate with key internal partners (e.g., Business Leaders, Operations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Affairs, Human Resources, etc.) to create and execute communications initiatives in support of GEICO’s business transformation

Lead executive communications by collaborating directly with company leadership, driving strategy, and managing team to handle executive events, interviews, and other communication

Direct integrated communications campaigns to advance major business initiatives such as talent management, DEI, employee resource groups, corporate sustainability, community outreach, new initiatives/policies, etc.

Manage, mentor, develop and inspire a strong team of Communications professionals across disciplines, including setting strategy and goals, providing development and leadership, and tracking success metrics

Set an internal strategy for a new and modernized way of communicating with our associates, including a refreshed approach to employee communications, internal events, and strategy to support the internal communications functions, while exploring new and better ways to communicate

Employ both proactive and reactive strategic thinking and decision making

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of internal communications

Advance leadership communications effectiveness to support them in managing change and building trust across the organization

Continuously measure, evaluate, and modify communications plans and tactics to improve impact and effectiveness

Engage and manage external agencies or other third parties on behalf of GEICO
Qualifications: GEICO seeks an energetic, seasoned, and agile communications leader for this role. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of relevant corporate communications experience. They will bring to GEICO a deep understanding of best-in-class communications practices from prior experiences.

Strong internal communications experience at large companies and proven ability to build a high-performing, diverse corporate communications function

Adept at influencing business partners, managing change and driving adoption of new communication initiatives

Exceptional communicator, able to present ideas verbally, in writing, formally and informally

Experience working on Corporate Social Responsibility or other purpose-driven initiatives

Proven manager, someone who knows how to build teams and values leading high-performing teams and brings out the best in individuals’ assets and capabilities

Experience working with the C-Suite, Boards, and other high-profile leaders

Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail

Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills; ability to resolve tough business problems with well-structured analyses

Proficiency in utilizing communication and collaboration platforms, digital tools, and analytics to drive effective communications

Strong writing skills with the ability to understand and communicate difficult concepts
