Compensation: Salary Range: $45,000 - $54,000 (includes health and vacation benefits).

Job Description

The goal of the position is to effectively coordinate public programming at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music to ensure high production standards and optimal experience for performers and audiences alike. The Event Coordinator is responsible for implementing and supervising PCM events on and off campus and in virtual formats. The Event Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Services and Programs, and works closely with the administrative team, department chairs, faculty, and where applicable, outside organizations. The purview of the Events Coordinator overlaps with other administrative positions and effective coordination is essential. The position is full-time with some evenings and weekend hours required. 


Key Duties:

  • Scheduling events in the master calendar
  • Room/venue scheduling for regular, occasional, and rental activities (lessons, performances, etc)
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising stage managers and/or applicable event support staff/volunteers
  • Coordinating event preparation, implementation and post-event clean up
  • Coordinating venue and event needs with the Director of Students Services and Programs
  • Ensuring appropriate signage for events (both PCM and non-PCM)
  • Providing event descriptions to marketing/communications staff
  • Coordinating rentals
  • Coordinating Barrett Hall and the Auditorium for PCM and non-PCM use
  • Ensuring ADA compliance at PCM events


Events that fall under the purview of the event coordinator include but are not limited to:

  • Student recitals and special events/activities
  • Faculty concerts, guest artist concerts, masterclasses
  • Off-site PCM events
  • One-offs (lectures, workshops, etc.)
  • ArtNight
  • Regular and occasional rental presentations


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required, preferably in music
  • Experience coordinating events, in an educational setting strongly preferred
  • Experience supervising direct reports


Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of music and music education preferred
  • Ability to support and work with teams
  • Ability to coordinate support staff
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to solve problems and disposition to seek improvements
  • Well organized, self-motivated, goal oriented, flexible
