Mail Assistant, Democratic Party of Illinois

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Mail Assistant. This position works closely with the Operations Director to effectively manage DPI’s Federal and State mail programs.

What Will You Do?

The Mail Assistant is an essential role in expanding the capacity of DPI’s mail programs. The Mail Assistant is responsible for strengthening the infrastructure of DPI’s mail process, and managing associated operational components. This position reports to DPI’s Operations Director.

Responsibilities include: 

  • In partnership with the Operations Director, develop and maintain a system for executing and managing a statewide direct mail program; 
  • Coordination with mail vendors, mail houses and volunteers to effectively facilitate mail distribution;
  • Recruiting volunteers to help with various aspects of the mail process;
  • Tracking and communicating the mail approval process with legal counsel and mail vendors;
  • Oversee and complete paperwork related to campaign finance compliance;
  • Provide overall support for DPI’s Operations Director for any mail related needs;
  • Engage in vendor relationships as needed; 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • At least 1 year of experience in a political campaign or office; 
  • Demonstrated ability to create, update, and maintain processes;
  • Demonstrated comfort with NGP, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets, and ability to use these technologies to construct reports and updates; 
  • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; 
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work well with internal staff and external stakeholders at all levels; 
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and able to adapt quickly to meet project needs;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This is a full time, hybrid position based in Chicago. This is a cycle based position with a term of August 1-November 30.

The salary for this role is $48,000-$50,000 a year and is commensurate with experience. DPI also

offers a generous benefits package with the opportunity for growth.
