Job Summary

The Congressional Lobbyist is a congressional affairs position within the Division of Government and Public Affairs and is located in Washington, DC. Incumbent shall be responsible for advocating legislative priorities of the Association.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as Lobbyist or as a Congressional or political party staff person
  • Experience developing and implementing legislative, lobbying, and political strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of Congress and the legislative process
  • Hill experience with particular knowledge of major Congressional health committees, health associations and federal health care issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communications and analytical skills
  • Established relationships with Members of Congress and their staff
  • Ability to respond to legislative changes, development of alternative legislative approaches and political developments, strategies and tactical planning
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Evenings/weekends for work/meetings and occasional travel

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced degree (e.g. Law degree, Master's degree, etc.)
  • Experience with Teams and Online Congressional Directory, e.g. Politico
