The office of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand seeks a Director of Digital Media for her Senate office. Responsibilities include engaging and growing the senator's online community and using her various platforms to educate and mobilize New York constituents and the press on her policy positions, legislative efforts and other Senate business. The Director of Digital Media is responsible for creating, calendaring and executing a day-to-day nimble cross-platform digital strategy. 

The Director of Digital Media reports to the communications director to ensure the online program advances and is in sync with the senator's messaging, and legislative priorities across departments. The position also manages the Digital Coordinator.

This is a senior role and qualified candidates will have at least 4-7 years of experience in digital communications. A qualified applicant will have managed data-driven and analytics-forward programs for progressive organizations, campaigns, public officials or public figures. Previous experience in the Senate not necessary. Senator Gillibrand’s office is an equal opportunity employer. 

Specific duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Plan and manage a focused editorial calendar to ensure accounts are updated with content every day;
  • Oversee day-to-day workflow of social media platform programs;
  • Create compelling, action-oriented content for Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms that reinforces the weekly messaging goals;
  • Coordinating digital messaging with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Identify opportunities to optimize our social media reach through testing;
  • Recognize great hooks and political moments that will engage the senator's followers;
  • Write with a strong, personable style and adapt your writing across platforms and accounts;
  • Establish and manage regular reporting to keep the senator and leadership apprised of key metrics and performance data;
  • Spearhead social media brainstorms as needed and identify opportunities to test creative and out-of-the-box strategies.;
  • Manage the Digital Coordinator
