Job Description
Congresswoman Janelle Bynum is seeking a Digital Assistant/Digital Press Secretary (title commensurate with experience) to join her Washington, DC office. The Digital Assistant/Digital Press Secretary will be responsible for content creation for the Congresswoman’s social media platforms, increasing engagement across all platforms, and maintaining the Congresswoman’s website. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, organizational, and digital skills, including video editing and graphic design. This person will report to the Communications Director based in Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Communications Director to develop and implement messaging strategies;
- Contribute to an active frontline communications operation;
- Run all social/digital media communications;
- Assist in drafting press releases, scripts, talking points, newsletters, and other written materials;
- Develop and maintain official website;
- Work with the district office to publicize constituent service wins and events;
- Create digital content, including video, graphics, and other creative materials for newsletters, social media, and more;
- Capture content at public-facing events; and
- Other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Experience with social media platforms and tools (e.g., Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools)
- Ability to create engaging graphics, visuals, and videos
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Capitol Hill experience preferred
