Job Description
The Senate HELP Committee (majority) seeks a qualified candidate to support the Committee’s legislative activities related to coverage and payer issues, including commercial health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, ERISA, health care reform, and hospitals. Additional expertise with medical debt, surprise billing, health privacy, prescription drug policy, and primary care is a plus. Responsibilities will include developing legislative and policy proposals, drafting policy memoranda, briefing materials, and reports, attending constituent and stakeholder meetings, and preparing for Congressional hearings and other legislative activities. Candidates must be highly self-motivated, enthusiastic about challenging the status quo, detail-oriented, work well under pressure, able to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely, have strong interpersonal skills, think creatively, and be able to juggle multiple projects at once. Applicants must be able to onboard and work in Washington, D.C. Three to five years related policy experience is required. Hill or agency experience is preferred. Vermont ties a plus.
