The Ecology Center seeks an educator to join our team for the spring season. This position will provide 20 hours per week from September 16th, 2024 to June 13th, 2025. The Environmental Educator will deliver educational programs on zero waste and renewable energy at schools and community events. Duties will be based out of the Ecology Center’s main office and Freeman Environmental Education Center in Ann Arbor.
Specific duties will include:
- Deliver educational programs at the Freeman Center, Ann Arbor’s Resource Recovery Center, regional schools, and community events
- Interact with students and teachers to facilitate their experience with hands-on program activities
- Help to prepare, clean-up, and organize educational materials used for programs
Educational Value of this job
Gain hands-on experience delivering environmental education programming on sustainability, environmental health, and related issues while working in a professional and democratic workplace.
Job Requirements
- Training or experience as an educator
- Availability to work during some K-12 school hours, 3-4 days/week
- Must be willing to engage learners of all ages
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Punctuality, reliability, and strong work ethic
- Interest in environmental issues preferred
- Access to vehicle for transportation
Hours: 16-20 hrs/week, $20/hr
