Finance Assistant, Democratic Party of Illinois

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Finance Assistant. This position works closely with the Finance Director to effectively further the DPI’s fundraising program.

What Will You Do?

The Finance Assistant is an essential role in expanding the capacity of DPI’s fundraising efforts. The Finance Assistant is responsible for strengthening the infrastructure of DPI’s fundraising program, and in managing associated research and operation components. This position reports to DPI’s Finance Director.

Responsibilities include: 

  • In partnership with DPI’s compliance team, develop and manage a process for check collection, deposits, and reporting; 
  • Conduct donor research; 
  • Create briefing materials, meeting materials, etc.
  • Manage and upkeep any trackers and spreadsheets
  • Assist with the management of call time and fundraising events;
  • Provide overall support for DPI’s Finance Director / DPI’s fundraising consultants;
  • Engage in vendor relationships as needed; 
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate promoter of Democratic values and have experience in communications. They will be meticulous in their work, curious, and invested in building relationships with a variety of stakeholders. As the Finance Associate, proactivity is highly valued, as is being able to act on their own initiative when needed.

Qualifications: 

  • 1-2 years of experience working in political fundraising; 
  • Demonstrated development of good political judgment as it relates to working with principles and donors; 
  • Demonstrated comfort with NGP, ActBlue, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets, and ability to use these technologies to construct reports, analysis, etc.; 
  • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; 
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work well with internal staff and external stakeholders at all levels; 
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and able to adapt quickly to meet project needs;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This is a full time, hybrid position based in Chicago.

The salary for this role is $50,000-$55,000 a year and is commensurate with experience. DPI also

offers a generous benefits package with the opportunity for growth.
