Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01), Ranking Member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs and member of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, is seeking a Communications and Staff Assistant to join a dynamic team intent on doing the most for everyone in St. Louis, starting with those who have the greatest need.
Communications and Staff Assistant
The Office of Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01) seeks an eager, organized, and detail-oriented individual to serve in a dual role as a Communications and Staff Assistant in our Washington, D.C. office. Applicants should be ready to work individually and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills and a desire to deliver for the people of Missouri’s First Congressional District. This is an entry level position.
The Communications and Staff Assistant is responsible for managing the front office which consists of answering phones, welcoming visitors, and logging constituent opinions. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to, coordinating tour and flag requests, sorting and tracking all mail, and completing tasks assigned by the Member, Chief of Staff, and Director of Operations. The Communications and Staff Assistant also collaborates with the Intern Coordinators in both the D.C. and district offices to assist with intern training, staff assignments, etc.
This position supports the Communications Team with daily communications and operations, including drafting social media copy, quotes, press releases and advisories, monitoring press inquiries, updating press lists and communications progress trackers, managing daily news clips and completing tasks assigned by the Communications Director.
The ideal candidate will have previous internship and/or administrative experience. Hill experience is desired but not required. This position requires excellent writing skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, work well under pressure, flexible work schedule, and some nights and weekend work required. Candidates with previous communications, graphic design, photography / videography, and/or web design experience is desired but not required. The salary range for this position is $55,000–58,000. The office provides a generous benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental; student loan repayment assistance; paid sick leave and personal time off; and other benefits.
