Deputy Communications Director
Job Location: Philadelphia, PA
Reports to: Deputy Communications Director
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party and Biden for President are seeking a talented Deputy Communications Director for the 2024 general election. The ideal candidate is committed to the mission of electing President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senator Bob Casey and Democrats up and down the ballot.
Responsibilities:
Assist Communications Director with strategic planning for key campaign moments and longer term goals
Manage team of Press Secretaries and oversee multiple workstreams in coordination with other departments on the day-to-day execution of communications plans
Provide detailed edits and approvals on communications team deliverables, including but not limited to: press releases, advisories, and opinion content
Work with national and local reporters to pitch and shape stories and help oversee local TV and radio booking
Oversee execution of press events and high profile principal and surrogate travel
Oversee surrogate prep for interviews, including managing compilation of talking points, remarks, and other necessary preparation materials
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Multiple campaign cycles working in political communications
Excellent writing skills and an interest in long and short form writing
Experience managing multiple direct reports
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills and experience staffing principals in media settings
Familiarity with Pennsylvania’s press corps and media landscape is a plus
