Job Description
The Women’s Law Project (WLP) is a small, fast-paced non-profit organization that works to defend and advance the rights of women, girls, and LGBTQ+ people in Pennsylvania and beyond.
The WLP believes that:
- Every person has the right to bodily autonomy, health, economic security, and freedom from violence.
- Personal decisions about sexuality and procreation must be protected by the government instead of intruded upon.
- Gender and racial discrimination must be fought with an intersectional perspective.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion must be the bedrock of WLP’s programs and operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The WLP is seeking an Associate Director to work closely with the Executive Director and leadership team. The Associate Director will:
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director on leadership, administrative, and management goals.
- Work with the leadership team to develop and implement WLP’s strategic initiatives and to support the staff while ensuring tasks are delegated appropriately with achievable deadlines.
- Monitor progress of key organizational initiatives and projects.
- Participate in funder meetings, as needed, with a focus on the Philadelphia area.
- Engage in grant writing and reporting, as needed.
- Engage in the hiring of staff, fellows, and interns, as needed.
- Handle a reasonable number of gender justice policy matters or client matters to maintain a working knowledge of WLP’s program areas.
- Represent WLP as needed at conferences, on panels, and in the community.
- Support the WLP Board of Trustees and volunteers by participating in meetings as needed and ensuring that board and volunteer materials are regularly reviewed and updated, among other reasonable duties.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:
- Commitment to social justice values, including racial justice and gender justice.
- Familiarity with reproductive rights, health, and justice movements is preferred.
- Experience in handling gender-based violence client matters, policy matters, or system reform is preferred.
- A law degree is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, including a high attention to detail.
- Experience in a management role in the nonprofit sector is preferred.
- Excellent project management abilities.
- Familiarity with nonprofit funding structures and budgeting is preferred.
- Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, give and receive feedback, work independently, and handle challenging situations using critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to interact with individuals who are from diverse backgrounds.
SALARY & CLASSIFICATION:
This position is full-time, exempt, and salaried.
The salary range is $100,000-110,000, commensurate with experience, and offers a generous benefits package that includes health insurance, TIAA retirement annuity plan with employer contribution, pre-tax medical expenses FSA, pre-tax dependent care FSA (both subject to annual federal limits), short and long-term disability, paid vacation, paid personal leave, paid sick days, paid family medical leave, unpaid leave, a transportation benefit, a life insurance benefit, pension benefit, and bereavement leave.
LOCATION OF WORK:
WLP is a hybrid office. The in-office component of the work (2-3 days per week) will take place in Philadelphia. WLP permits remote work on a case-by-case basis when it is reasonable and does not present an undue hardship on the organization. WLP prefers employees to perform their remote work in Pennsylvania to ensure compliance with state and local withholding requirements and wage and hour laws.
