ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Federation is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

PJ Library Bay Area, a program of the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, sends free, monthly high-quality Jewish children’s books to families with children from birth through 12 years of age. These stories spark conversations that inspire the whole family to explore and celebrate what they love about Jewish life. The program’s mission is to help people connect to Jewish values, traditions, and culture while building vibrant Jewish communities. The role reports to the Director, Community Partnerships and Grantmaking.

POSITION SUMMARY

The PJ Library Associate position will be responsible for managing the varied aspects of the PJ Library Bay Area program including PJ book subscription growth, community collaborations, evaluations, budgets, and program administration. The focus of the role will be to:

  • Grow book subscription enrollment by raising the PJ Library Bay Area program visibility and recruiting new subscribers
  • Design pathways for PJ Library subscribers to connect to and participate in Bay Area Jewish life through partnership, promotion and relationship building

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Operations

  • Work with Federation and PJ Library national data team on all aspects of the family subscriber data including address changes, returned mail, and enrollment management
  • Manage all communication with the PJ Library National office at the Harold Grinspoon Foundation including billing, operation, and subscription issues
  • Collaborate with internal Philanthropy and Business Development departments on outreach to all PJ Library subscriber families for donor cultivating purposes
  • Complete all grant writing and reporting necessary for the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and local PJ Library funders
  • Attend the annual PJ Library professional conference in Baltimore, MD
  • Create quarterly reports about the successes and growth of PJ Library in the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Maintain program and book materials, welcome baby bags, ordering and mailing supplies and other administrative tasks as needed

Marketing/Communications

  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term marketing plan for PJ Library/Federation brand awareness and to recruit new subscribers
  • Engage directly with community partners, parenting blogs, parent clubs and other family programs to promote PJ Library enrollment
  • Plan and execute calendar of new enrollment digital campaigns to grow PJ Library subscribers in coordination with the Federation’s marketing department
  • Manage social media calendar and ongoing posts for PJ Library Bay Area’s Facebook and Instagram pages
  • Create and share monthly communications to subscriber families including newsletters, blog posts, partner programs and family resources
  • Promote and build the PJ Library brand through public space and partnered new enrollment opportunities

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the diversity within the Jewish community.
  • Team player with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments.
  • Ability to connect with parents and relate to parents with young children.
  • Background in family engagement or education is beneficial.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and organized with strong follow-through skills.
  • Proficient in persuasive English writing and content creation.
  • Administrative and logistics planning and execution skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Google Drive knowledge and skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Jewish community and tradition, Bay Area/North American Jewish life and Jewish communal work is preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
