About The Team:

The Team is a nonprofit organization that creates award-winning programming focused on integrating nonpartisan civic engagement and voter participation into college athletics. Our mission is to develop teammates, inspire leaders, and empower citizens. Working directly with athletes, coaches, and administrators, we provide nonpartisan resources to increase voter participation, make civic engagement joyful and easy, build stronger teams, and reinforce commitment to community.


The Team is launching the largest national effort to date to inspire and organize student athletes, college coaches, and athletic departments around the urgency and importance of voting in 2024. Through direct engagement with athletes and coaches, we will activate over 750 campuses, utilizing their communities and unique digital platforms to reach millions of voters, both on and off campus.


RFP Details: 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced contractor to serve as the Program Director for the Team’s non-partisan 501c3 college athletics focused voter registration and voter turnout work for the remainder of 2024. The Program Director will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and implementing The Team’s voter engagement programs, including our High Impact Civic Events, the Civic Captain Initiative and the Coaches Voter Engagement Pledge, working closely with stakeholders, partners and college athletics departments to achieve our mission. The Program Director will report directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Team’s voter engagement programming with a focus on expanding voter registration and voter turnout in 2024. 
  • Set clear goals and milestones for the Team’s voter engagement programming. 
  • Plan evaluation strategies to monitor the performance of each program and outline necessary improvements
  • Present periodic performance reports and metrics including recommendations of changes to enhance the programs. 

2. Program Management:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Team’s voter engagement programs.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts, events, and activities to engage college athletic-departments
  • Ensure compliance with legal and organizational requirements for voter registration and voter turnout.

3. Partnership Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain existing relationships and build new relationships with colleges, universities, athletic-departments, coaches, athletes, and community partners with the goal of expanding the Team’s reach and effectiveness. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to expand outreach and enhance program effectiveness.

4. Volunteer and Team Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise on-campus athletes and coaches to ensure they are set up to be trusted messengers for voting within their communities. 
  • Provide guidance, support, and resources to empower team members and volunteers.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Track and analyze voter registration and voter turnout data and program metrics.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.


Required skills and qualifications

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in program management, preferably in voter registration/voter turnout, youth voter engagement, or campaigns/advocacy efforts. 
  • Strong understanding of voter registration and voter turnout laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Critical-thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in finding creative solutions to complex problems
  • Strong organization and time management skills and ability to multitask 
  • Commitment to promoting democratic participation and empowering college athletes to be civic minded community members. 


Location: Remote (willingness to travel)


Job Type: Contracted role until 12/31/24, with option to re-evaluate contract on 1/1/25


Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time position located remotely. Some travel may be required.
  • This is a monthly retainer position starting at $7,000/month, but commensurate with experience.
